The Birth of an American Cargo Bike

Ever wondered how the cargo bike phenomenon started and where all these big, long bikes came from? This excerpt reveals the fascinating history of the Longtail cargo bike and how its birth planted the seeds for the current boom.

The feature-length documentary LESS CAR MORE GO will place this tale in the context of the whole cargo bike story: from the century-old long johns and trikes of Northern Europe through the year 2013, when sales are doubling annually and the cargo bike community is thriving! As the project is crowdsourced, we’ll be using clips submitted by Co-Directors (cargo bike lovers) from all over the world, combined with footage of riders, designers, advocates and pioneers shot by director Liz Canning.
